A Small Georgian Mahogany Bachelor Chest of Drawers
An unmolested piece with lots of character and excellent patination
Thumb moulded edging to the top over four long graduated drawers
Sitting on original bracket feet (replacement corner blocks fitted with metal glides which can easily be removed if required)

Brass lifting handles to the sides
Rococo mid-18th century style solid brass drawer handles and matching escutcheons (replacements but in keeping with the chest)

Brushing slide with Dutch brass drop handles

Original backboards & dust boards
Hand-cut dovetails to all drawer joints

Dimensions 37.25 wide x 20.75 deep x 29.75 inches high (perfect size for either an old or modern room setting)

Virtually no signs of previous woodworm infestation

Structurally sound throughout with fully functioning drawers. Beeswax applied to the runners, stops and brushing slide to ensure smooth operation
The top two drawers each have drop in internal divides. The slots are original but the divides of oak and mahogany are later replacements (removable). The bottom drawer has had a later central slot added but there is no divide
The drawer linings are constructed of oak which indicates higher quality manufacture. There is some shrinkage to the drawer base panels but this is not uncommon

Original steel drawer locks in place but no key

There have been historic minor repairs to the drawer cock-beading and veneer on the top and front face. There is shrinkage between the side panels
These do not detract from the look of the chest and if anything add to its charm and character
The veneer is, as you would expect for a 200+ year old hand crafted chest substantial at between 1.5mm and 3mm in thickness
There is general wear and tear (scuffs, indentations and marks) commensurate with age. This is not a 20th century reproduction bachelor chest of drawers!

Overall a superb genuine original piece of very good proportions

It has not been stripped or French polished, just polished by hand using
good quality beeswax
