Small Georgian Mahogany Chest of 2 over 3 Graduated Drawers SOLD
A charming small Georgian mahogany chest of 2 over 3 graduated drawers

In excellent order for its age and full of character. Good patination and colour to the mahogany
The cock beading to the drawer surrounds is in very good condition with no major damage or replacement pieces
Original backboards and drawer locks (no key)
Nicely shaped bracket feet with small metal glides fitted. These can easily be removed if required

Dimensions 36 " wide x 18 " deep x 34" high making it perfect for a modern or traditional setting

Very attractive brass swan neck drawer handles, interesting shield escutcheons and side lifting handles with solid brass back plates. One of the stops is missing so it is recommended that the handles are not used to lift the chest
The drawer handles are not the originals but appear to have been in place for some time
The mahogany surfaces have a waxed finish (not French polish or varnish)
The top of the chest has good figuring with a shaped moulded edging

The drawers are all sound in construction and have the hand-cut dovetail joints as expected for the period. The drawer base boards and linings are all original
The drawer runners (which appear to have been replaced relatively recently) have had pure beeswax applied to aid the opening / closing of the drawers
The back boards have some signs of old extinct woodworm and have therefore been treated as a precaution

Please be aware that this chest of drawers is 200+ years old and has wear and tear associated with daily use
Please view the photographs carefully as they also form part of this listing description

The chest is for sale elsewhere and so may be removed at any time

You are more than welcome to view the piece at a mutually convenient time (subject to prior sale)

Collection in person or by your courier (cost to be paid by the buyer). We can assist with lifting the chest if required
